Solo exhibition of paintings by Oleg Trofimov. Oksen Gallery, Porsgrunn, Norway, September 10 – October 2, 2011.
Oksen Gallery is located in the southern Norwegian town of Porsgrunn, in its oldest commercial district, on a street with beautiful historic architecture and close to a picturesque river. I met the gallery owner, Grete, at the exhibition in Stavern, and she kindly invited me to exhibit at her gallery.
The gallery turned out to be small, yet very cozy, with a distinctly Norwegian character that gave the exhibition a special atmosphere. Visitors received the show with great warmth and friendliness, and asked many questions on a wide range of subjects. Most of all they were surprised by how quickly Russians had adapted to the new post-Soviet reality, how quickly they accepted the new rules of the game and began traveling all over the world.
In general, Norwegians are very pleasant and sociable people, and I was glad to visit this beautiful, mysterious and outwardly austere country once again.
